Belonging & Inclusion
Feeling a sense of belonging and participating in your community benefits individuals, organizations and communities alike. When we feel like we belong, we feel valued, we rely upon each other and we are more likely to contribute to creating strong communities.
But these feelings aren’t automatic. In fact:
- 1/3 of families with young children feel they can’t count on a neighbour
- 1/4 of people in Guelph Wellington feel like they don’t belong
- 1/3 of newcomers feel out of place in their new surroundings
Together, we can do something about this.
United Way is working with community partners in order to:
Support people to grow connections to others, in order to combat isolation and build belonging
Create opportunities for people to get involved and become active contributors in our community
Connect people to community services, to assist people in getting help when they need it
