“Since the beginning of the pandemic, there has been an increased need for emergency shelter for youth . This past summer, we were able to arrange for a homeless youth to stay at a local hotel for a few days. This gave us some time to work alongside this youth in planning an alternative solution. We provided him with a SIM card and prepaid phone card so he could remain connected to his network of resources. After his short hotel stay, he found living accommodations with a family member in another area. Unfortunately, his living situation changed again in the Fall and he needed shelter. This time we provided him with a month-long hotel stay using our Emergency Rent Bank, funded in part by United Way. Being able to help him meet his basic needs has been invaluable. We continue to work on finding a long-term solution for his housing.”
