Support families and individuals moving out of homelessness
find and maintain a place to call home.
Fact: There are more than 295 individuals experiencing homelessness in Guelph-Wellington right now. Nearly half have been homeless for more than 1 year.
Transitioning from homelessness to housing can be challenging for some, particularly families, chronically homeless individuals, and those with mental health and addiction challenges. For many of these individuals, they have been struggling with homelessness for a long period of time, and the idea of their own physical space is new to them. Learning the skills to maintain their housing, learning to be alone and navigating social assistance programs requires support until they are more comfortable with their environment and new lifestyle.
Ensuring these supports are available to those who need them is critical to success and is one of the best ways to reduce homelessness in our community.
The Housing Stability Fund was developed in partnership between United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin and the Guelph-Wellington 20,000 Homes Campaign to support individuals with a history of homelessness to access and maintain housing over time. Your donation to the Housing Stability Fund will accumulate throughout the year and be distributed to Designated Organizations annually on April 1st. Funds will be used to support individuals with rent and utilities for permanent housing and help with furniture and household goods to get them started on their journey.
As always, your donation will stay 100% local.
