With United Way’s funding, we’re able to offer anti-bullying presentations to kids in schools. After one of these presentations, a grade 6 student pulled me aside. He told me that in previous years, coming to school was difficult for him because he didn’t feel like he could be himself. He was constantly afraid of what others would think of him. He told me that after the presentation he felt better about being himself at school. This has made coming to school a more positive experience. He mentioned that he feels more confident that if a bullying situation did arise, that he could respond appropriately and felt his peers would be more likely to help too. He now feels comfortable and safe to be himself at school.

We believe that every child deserves the chance to grow up with support to reach their potential, so they can thrive in adulthood. Learn more about our All That Kids Can Be Impact Area.
