Transportation is something many of us take for granted. There are some seniors in our community who don’t have access to reliable and safe transportation, nor family members to rely on. Over the last holiday season, our volunteer drivers offered to drive seniors on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day. The feedback from these clients was exceptional. We had one client express sincere gratitude for such a kind accommodation. She needed to get to and from her dialysis appointment or she would need to cancel. This could have resulted in her getting sicker, or paying for a very expensive cab ride to and from the appointment from her small monthly stipend. With the help of the United Way funded program, she was able to keep her appointment. She kept up her dialysis routine which preventing further illness or financial hardship during the holiday season.
