Local charities and talent rally together to host online benefit concert to raise funds for emergency relief

Guelph, Ontario. May 25, 2020.  The Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington and United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin have joined forces to bring music to your living room. An encore event to the 2019 Inspiration Guelph Concert, this online benefit concert will help raise funds for the Children’s Foundation’s Emergency Food Relief Program, Fresh Food for Kids, and United Way’s COVID-19 Community Response Fund. Headlining the Inspiration Encore Event is Virginia to Vegas, who was the headliner of the 2019 Children’s Foundation Inspiration Event, and grew up in right here in Guelph.

“We are looking forward to bringing the excitement of live music to people while they are spending time in their homes,” says Emma Rogers, CEO of the Children’s Foundation. “Quarantine has been a tough time for all of us – and we are hoping to bring a bit of fun to the community, while raising money to continue to support those in need.”

Along with Virginia to Vegas, the show will also feature local singer songwriter, Sam Drysdale. “I am so excited to play alongside Virginia to Vegas, and spread some happiness with music!” says Sam “Music brings people together, and throughout this pandemic, coming together – virtually – has been so important.”

The event will be an all age’s appropriate event on Zoom with tickets being sold for $20 per household. Proceeds will be going towards Fresh Food for Kids and the COVID-19 Community Response Fund. Once you purchase your ticket, you will receive a Zoom link to the email account registered with the purchase on the day of the event.  Ticket holders for the Cocktail House Party earlier this evening, will also get access to the Inspiration Encore event included with their ticket.

“We have seen the community come together in so many new and exciting ways during these difficult times, and we are really looking forward to working with the Children’s Foundation on this unique event,” says Colleen Murdoch, Director, Communications & Community Impact at United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin. “This is a fun, easy and entertaining way to support our community, all from the comfort of your home!
