United in Conversation Presented by Women United

Women United Guelph Wellington Dufferin is a powerful collective for social change as key drivers of philanthropy in our community. Our mission is to mobilize the caring power of women to advance a common good in our communities.

United In Conversation, presented by Women United, is an opportunity for an open and honest conversation about an issue facing our community, with the goal of creating greater understanding, empathy and encouraging action.

Did you know?

Racialized women, along with Indigenous women, newcomer women and transgender women, are disproportionately impacted by poverty in our communities. Female-led one parent families are almost four times more likely to live below the poverty line than people in couple families with children. This number becomes even higher for Black women who are single parents.

Women living in poverty experience multiple barriers to lifting themselves out of poverty, depending on different elements of their social identities – things like their sexuality, race, gender identity, ability and age. Recognizing these barriers and the diversity of people’s needs are critical steps to implementing equitable solutions to end poverty.

We invite you to join us for a collaborative & interactive discussion.

In conversation with those with lived experience and those working on the frontlines, we will explore ways in which we can take action to build a community where everyone has the support and resources they need to live a better life.

If you are unable to attend, please consider supporting Women United and make an impact in our community today. When women thrive, so does our community!
