We are accepting applications for a volunteer member of the Fund Distribution Committee.
This volunteer position involves working as part of the Fund Distribution Committee. Committee members’ roles are to evaluate programs requesting funds in United Way’s 3 year funding stream. Committee members will receive training and utilize evaluation tools such as an online evaluation portal and program criteria to assist in making funding recommendations as a group.
Volunteer Role
Background Required:
- Interest/knowledge of non-profit, social service sector and structure
- Strong decision making skills
- Ability to reason, analyze and work collectively and as part of a team
- Familiarity with community needs, issues and the role of United Way considered an asset
- Knowledge of finance/accounting/budgeting considered an asset
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend monthly committee meetings and work collaboratively as part of the committee.
- Maintain confidentiality and evaluate all submissions impartially.
- Communicate any conflicts of interest to United Way staff.
- Conduct and submit online program reviews in a timely manner (October-December/January)
- Make recommendations that are in the best interest of our community.
Volunteer Hours Required:
- Approximately 5-8 hours of ‘take home reading’ throughout the months of October-November
- Attendance at 4-5 committee meetings, max 3 hours each
